Location Based Services / e911
GBSD has developed ALI (Auto Location Identification) technology for Phase I and II of the FCC e911 mandate. Focused on an Analog, TDMA, and GSM phone technology called The Cellular Positioning System (CPS), the system has been designed with the rural Tier II and Tier III carriers in mind.
The main goal of this project was to develop a methodology for locating cell phones (Analog, TDMA, and GSM) in a cost-effective manner, given the high cost of upgrading the cell infrastructure to support TDOA and E-OTD location-based systems.
Our solution bridges the gap between the SS7 call information and the TCP/IP packet data that activates and synchronizes our CPS network.
Keeping with that goal, the system we developed has been designed to use our proprietary location antennas and the wireless carrier's existing LAN/WAN network resources to reduce the cost of installation, upgrades, and maintenance.
